Teen Program

Thinking of a health career? Try volunteering!

Teen Volunteers at Augusta Health are students who have finished the ninth grade, are at least 14 ½ years old, and who demonstrate a serious interest in gaining work experience in a health care setting. Teen Volunteers are selected for positions based on their maturity, potential to accept responsibility, and the ability to work cooperatively with others. Our summer program consists of a six-week session, including orientation.

Mentorship

Augusta Health accepts students throughout the year from area high schools or home school for mentorship programs. You must have a senior class standing. Apply for this program through your school guidance department or by contacting Volunteer Services.

We have Mentorship Programs in the following areas:

  • Nursing
  • Radiology
  • Pharmacy
  • Therapies
  • Marketing / Public Relations
  • Laboratory Sciences

Other healthcare departments may be available upon request.

Medical Explorers

Medical Explorers Post 390 Invites You to Join Us

Medical Exploring is a worksite-based program for young men and women who are at least 14 years of age but have not yet reached their 21st birthday.

The Post is designed to help young men and women who are interested in careers in the field of medicine to gain insight into the career of medicine through hands-on activities and tours of different departments. Meetings are held once a month during the normal school year, September through May.

Requirements for Volunteering

To ensure a positive experience for both the volunteer and the hospital, we request the following of all volunteers:

Chaplains

Volunteer Chaplains are seasoned clergy and members of the hospital healing team. They are trained listeners, ready to provide confidential assistance to people of all faiths and backgrounds without judgment or pressure. Our Chaplains are available to help patients, families, and staff work through difficult personal, spiritual, and religious issues.

Volunteers

Our skilled and professional staff meet the needs of our patients, but our volunteers help us by applying that tender touch, that extra smile, and a willing pair of hands which make the difference in the care for which we are so well known. Volunteers often find that sharing their talents can have additional bonuses, especially if they are considering a career in health care, or if they have job skills to sharpen after absence from the work force.

Whatever your need, we'll try to match it to ours. We can help you give the greatest gift of all, yourself.
