Undergoing routine screening through a procedure known as a colonoscopy remains the number one way to detect early stages of colon cancer. The American Cancer Society recommends that everyone over the age of 50 have a screening colonoscopy. However, people with a personal or family history of polyps should talk to their physician about beginning screenings earlier than age 50.
Augusta Health has a beautiful Endoscopy Center to make endoscopic procedures more convenient and less stressful than ever before. The Endoscopy center features six state of the art procedure rooms, and 18 private rooms for preparing and recovering from the procedure. The procedure rooms include State-of-the-art Olympus endoscopes, and software applications that allow for immediate patient reports and patient information pertaining to the results of the procedure.
