Community Health Forum

The Community Health Forum brings community agencies, health care providers, and interested citizens together to identify and address the health care needs of our community. This group gathers regularly to share information and resources.

The group's work has resulted in major initiatives such as providing low and no cost dental services at the Augusta Regional Dental Clinic. Forum discussions led to the creation of one of the Foundation’s most effective programs, Working on Wellness (WOW), to increase the community’s awareness of healthy lifestyle choices. Some of the topics addressed during the past few years include gang prevention, the use of Virginia’s 211 information line for health and human services, and teen pregnancy prevention.

Current initiatives, based on findings from the community needs assessment, are targeted at mental health and prenatal care. Both areas of need will be further evaluated by specific work groups who will gather more date and develop plans of action to address the identified needs.
