Meet Nurse Practitioner Sara Hawken
Sara Hawken is an Adult Nurse Practitioner with over 10 years of clinical nursing experience. She has a bachelor's in nursing from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, and a certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center in Medical- Surgical Nursing. Following graduation she served five years as a commissioned officer in the United States Air Force Nurse Corps. During her time in the Air Force, Sara worked in oncology, surgery, telemetry and family practice and was awarded a Medal of Commendation. She continued to practice and become an Endoscopy Procedure Nurse.
Sara received her Master's degree in Nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a certification as an Adult Health Nurse Practitioner and was awarded the Outstanding Graduate award. She was hired at the Auburn University Medical Center, Auburn, Alabama, and worked in family practice, urgent care and women's health. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioner's. Her family is new to Charlottesville where she lives with her husband and three sons.
