Breast Navigator Joins Staff

Augusta Health is pleased to announce that Meg Shrader, RN
has joined our staff as the new Breast Navigator. Her role as a dedicated oncology nurse is to
seamlessly coordinate all aspects of care from diagnosis through treatment for
patients with breast cancer. Patients build a trusting relationship with their
nurse navigator, allowing them to focus on getting well. She will be a
patient’s personal support system from the time they are diagnosed through any
testing or treatment that may follow. She will serve as a consistent contact
for the patient and his/her family. She will assist the physician in educating
the patient and his/her family about treatment options and methods. She will
coordinate all aspects of care including consultations, appointments,
surgeries, tests, procedures, and treatments. She will also assist the patient
in working through financial and insurance issues, accessing counseling and
support services, and helping to alleviate anxiety. This service is optional
and free of charge.
