A part of Augusta Health, the medical center is a 255 bed community hospital located on a 230 acre campus in Fishersville, VA. As the sole community provider in Augusta County, Augusta Health holds the majority of market share position for most services.

Augusta Health offers an impressive array of inpatient, outpatient and community based services. In addition to the traditional inpatient unit, we also have an inpatient rehabilitation unit, a 29 bed skilled nursing unit and a 20 bed psychiatric unit (traditional and gero-psych).

The Emergency Department sees nearly 60,000 visits per year with an average admission rate of twenty-six (26) daily, utilizing 3-4 physicians at any given time. The ED has 30 rooms of which five (5) are dedicated to Fast Track. Our quick turn around time in the Lab and Radiology Department (including PACS and MediTech systems) allow us to boast an average length of stay at 3.09 hours in the ED and 1.42 hours in the Fast Track. Outpatient services include both medical and radiation oncology cancer treatment, diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular services, a pain management center, a behavioral health center, a nursing treatment center and a sleep lab facility.

The medical staff is comprised of over 175 dedicated and collegial practitioners (including a large team of highly skilled hospitalists), who provide outstanding care with the support of our compassionate providers. The cooperative and top-notch care team at August Health have allowed us to earn national distinction, having been designated as a Solucient 100 Top Hospital, 100 Top Regional Hospital, U.S. News and World Report's America's Best Hospital and Health Grades Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence, which places Augusta Health in the top 5% of all hospitals in the country. Augusta Health is financially solid as evidenced by it Moody's A1 rating, being one of the only two hospitals its size in the nation to hold that level of credit worthiness.

Augusta Medical Group

(AMG) is the hospital owned multi specialty group with both primary care and specialist physicians. Current compliment of physicians (41) include Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Endocrine, Hospitalists, Pain Management, Psychiatry, Rheumatology, ENT, Orthopedic Surgery, and most recently Cardiology. AMG plans new locations in outlying areas with the addition of over 50 additional physicians by 2014. AMG has recently taken steps to more closely align with physicians with the announcement of a physician CEO and the new hire of a Director, Physician Recruitment/Practice Development as well as a a Chief Operating Officer. AMG will be a physician directed subsidiary of Augusta Health with physicians on the Board and a retired Orthopedic Surgeon as Chairman of the Board. This is an exciting time to be a physician at Augusta Health.
