The word cancer refers to many different types, stages and locations of a disease. Here at Augusta Health we focus our treatments on the cancers most common in our community. Breast, Lung, Colorectal, Prostate and Bladder cancers are the most common types of cancers we treat. All of our treatments are individualized for the patient and the cancer they have.
Local, state and national reporting of cancer diagnosis, stage, treatment and outcomes on each patient diagnosed and/or treated at Augusta Health contributes to the development of new, more effective and aggressive cancer treatments that hopefully will one day lead to a cure.
As part of our accreditation with the Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons, we compare the Augusta Health Cancer Program’s quality with more than 1,500 commission-accredited cancer programs in the United States. Using the NCDB allows the use of comparative data to track progress on important quality metrics including survival numbers, time to treatment values, and clinical performance measures.
