Augusta Health employs some of the finest health care professionals in Virginia. We are a site for clinical education and offer many health programs, helping to support education at all levels
Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM)
Augusta Health is one of less than 25 core clinical sites for VCOM students in Virginia, with additional sites in other regional states. We are currently one of the most sought after sites by VCOM students, both because of our resources and our teaching model, which is based on direct face-to-face bedside clinical instruction, to complement their module based learning. Our students typically complete their first 2 pre-clinical years at the main VCOM campus in Blacksburg, and come to us for the third and fourth clinical years. We currently accept 10 third year students each year who complete mandatory "core" rotations in the following subjects: Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, OB/GYN, General Surgery, Psychiatry, Geriatrics, Underserved Care, and Research. Many of these students return to Augusta Health in their fourth year to do elective rotations with us as well, and quite a number of them have taken on community outreach roles such as coaching, mentoring at risk youth, helping in the Free Clinic, and other community outreach programs.
The School of Clinical Laboratory Science is a 12-month clinical program, divided into a lecture/student laboratory phase that emphasizes the pathophysiology of disease.
Augusta Health accepts students throughout the year from area high schools for mentorship programs. You can apply for this program through your school guidance department.
We have Mentorship Programs in the following areas:

Augusta Health is an official clinical site for the Sentara RMH School of Radiologic Technology. Students can get an Associates Degree through Blue Ridge Community College as well for their two-year study program. They will take most if not all of their didactic classroom course at RMH and split their clinical rotations between RMH and Augusta Health. This is a two year program. The Director is Mr. Jon Lough (540) 433-4532. This program is an accredited program by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology. Students take course work in Anatomy and Physiology, X-ray Physics, Radiation Safety, and other related classes. Upon successful completion, students sit for the Registry Exam in order to become certified Radiologic Technologists.
