COVID-19 Update: It Takes a Village: A Focus on Distilleries

Thursday, April 9, 2020

The most important priority for our community is to stay home!

There is increased urgency for Social Distancing because the curve for the peak for COVID-19 in the Commonwealth of Virginia has shifted. The estimated peak for resource use in Virginian is April 20, 2020.

As a community, we have taken many necessary steps to create social distancing---schools are closed, non-essential services are closed and Governor Northam has issued a Stay-at-Home Order.

Stay at home as much as possible! Flattening the curve is the best way to help ensure we will have the beds, ventilators, masks, tests, and supplies necessary to meet the needs of our community. Staying at home and Social Distancing are real and direct ways you can help reduce the impact of COVID-19!

If you have concerns about symptoms or exposure

Please call our COVID Care Call Center at (540) 332-5122. We have a team of nurses answering the calls seven days a week between 8 am and 4:30 pm.

Augusta Health's COVID-19 Assessment Center is located at the Waynesboro Urgent Care at 201 Lew Dewitt Boulevard in Waynesboro. At the Assessment Center, patients can be evaluated, treated, educated about respiratory illness and tested for COVID if needed. Availability of tests is improving.

The COVID Care Call Center and COVID-19 Assessment Center work together to see patients effectively while reducing possible exposure of others to COVID-19.

Cheer Cards

We've had to implement a No Visitation Policy because of the COVID-19 pandemic. So if you know someone in the hospital that you would normally cheer with a visit, you can now send them a Cheer Card!

A Focus on the Distilleries
So what's the main ingredient in hand sanitizer? It's alcohol. And two local businesses who are expert in producing alcohol are Silverback Distillery and Ragged Branch Distillery. Both are providing product to Augusta Health.

It takes a village to battle a pandemic. So in an unprecedented time and facing an unpredictable disease and while keeping an appropriate social distance, an entire village—a community of support—has risen to help each other through it.

We stand together, even when we are apart.

If you are interested in joining the village, please visit our Community Support page.
