Walk with a Doc! Next walk: June 10th at Gypsy Hill Park
A beautiful, sunny day greeted the walkers as they stepped out in Constitution Park in Waynesboro on Saturday May 20.
Dave Varma, M.D. a cardiologist at Augusta Health, joined the walker on Saturday. The Murphy Deming School of Health Sciences Physician Assistant students conferred with the walkers about ways to make walking part of their daily routine:
- Make exercising part of your daily schedule. It may help to physically write it in your calendar.
- Set realistic goals for yourself. If you set your goals too high, you can easily discourage yourself to the point of not exercising at all.
- Get your friends and family involved in physical activity. It will allow you to spend more time with family and friends, while making exercising fun.
The Physician Assistant students gave the walkers reasons why walking is important for their bodies:
- Improves your mood
- Promotes better sleep
- Combats health conditions
- Boosts your energy
Join us Saturday, June 10th at Gypsy Hill Park in Staunton. The walkers will meet at the Bandstand at 8:30 to begin walking. The walk will be facilitated by Julie Plumbley, M.D. a pathologist at Augusta Health.
