Walk with a Doc Steps Off! Next Walk: April 15 on the Greenway!
Walk with a Doc kicked off its 2017 season with a brisk and cool walk with Dr. Diana Smith on Saturday, April 8, at Gypsy Hill Park in Staunton.
Murphy Deming School of Health Sciences Physician Assistant students were also there, and spoke about these benefits of walking as exercise:
- Exercise has an anti-depressive effect and studies have shown that regular exercise results in a happier mood.
- Research also suggests that these anti-depressive benefits of exercise are long-lasting.
- Exercise also reduces anxiety—fewer worries about your health and the same happier mood.
- Similar to the good effects of walking and exercise on depression, the benefits of reducing anxiety symptoms are also long-lasting.
So take a positive step to better health and a happier mood: join Augusta Health and Walk with a Doc. Participants receive a free t-shirt and a free pedometer to help track their steps every day.
