Why did you choose your specialty area?
I chose to pursue a career in healthcare after growing up in a family that owned and operated many southwest Virginia Hospice locations. The care brought to these patients and their families during such profoundly significant life events, inspired me to pursue a career in providing for the community and its people with their healthcare needs.
How do you spend your spare time?
My spare time is spent fishing, reading, and playing guitar. I regularly visit my family who lives in Jacksonville north Carolina for time at the beach. I enjoy movies and tv shows of all topics and varieties. My family has a military background and my younger sister serves the Marines in San Diego. Above all else, I love spending time with my family.
#1 health tip that you can offer:
My number one health tip is no more zero days. What is a zero day? A zero day is when you don’t do at least one thing to bring you closer to that dream, goal, hobby, health outlook you may have. Be it a walk around the block, a pushup, reading one page of that chapter, writing one sentence in your blessing book, one text or call to your children or parents or anything that makes you healthier, happier, stronger. Emotional and physical wellbeing are important to our health overall and I believe one small step is all it takes to get the ball rolling each and every day.
