Making One Last Wish Come True
Everyone has trips they want to make 'someday'—but for Hospice patients, 'someday' has more urgency. For one recent Hospice patient, that trip was a last fishing trip with his son. With help from Dr. Rob Marsh, Carol Showalter and the Hospice staff made arrangements for medications, patient and family teaching, a blood transfusion and back-up Hospice care with another Hospice near the ocean to make the trip a reality.
Thanks to the efforts of this Hospice team, the patient had a wonderful trip, filled with family and fishing and memories, before passing away a few weeks later. Truly caring for our patients happens in the most unusual places—like a fishing boat—and in the most unusual ways.
