Interventional Radiology (IR) Nurse
As an IR Nurse, you’ll provide specialized care for patients undergoing minimally invasive, image-guided procedures. From assessment and preparation to monitoring and recovery, you’ll ensure patients are safe, comfortable, and supported throughout their IR experience. A key part of the role is administering and monitoring moderate sedation, helping patients feel at ease while maintaining the highest safety standards.
What You’ll Do:
- Assess, prepare, and monitor patients before, during, and after procedures.
- Administer and manage moderate sedation with a focus on patient safety.
- Collaborate with interventional radiologists and technologists during procedures such as angioplasty, embolization, biopsies, and central line placements.
- Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Qualifications:
- Current RN license.
- BLS and ACLS certification (required).
- Additional certifications such as Certified Radiology Nurse (CRN) or Certified Sedation Registered Nurse (CSRN) are highly valued and demonstrate advanced expertise.
Career Path:
Many IR Nurses bring experience from ICU, ED, or PACU settings, where critical thinking and strong assessment skills are essential. On-the-job training and mentorship support the transition into interventional radiology.
