Nursing Student Program

Augusta Health Nursing strives to provide a safe and high quality clinical learning experience for registered and licensed practical nursing students.

Student Affiliation Program

Prior to the start of any nursing clinical rotation a signed affiliation agreement between the school and the facility must be in place before the start of student learning experiences. This process can take some time. Please contact us as soon as possible to ensure an agreement is current and in place well in advance of an educational experience. Degree Completion and Post Graduate

For nurses who have graduated and are seeking additional education for degree completion or post graduate education, you will need to provide:

  1. Proof of a valid, unrestricted Virginia State nursing license
  2. Basic Life Support certification prior to the start of your learning experience.

Paperwork, on-boarding documentation, and competency requirements.

Access Forms for Clinical Groups, Capstone, and CNL undergraduate students

  1. Nurse Student Access Request Form (Download and Return)
  2. Nurse Student Computer Access Request Form (Download and Return)
  3. Nurse Student Nurse Computer Password Form

Students not in a clinical group and utilizing an Augusta Health Preceptor

  1. Human Resources will need contact information to arrange the required appointments prior to start of your clinical rotation.

ID Badge

All students must present the following documents to Human Resources to receive a student ID badge, which is to be worn above the waist at all times while on clinical rotation at Augusta Health:

  1. Valid photo ID
  2. Acceptable Use policy signed and dated
  3. Confidentiality Agreement signed
  4. For Post graduate nurses: a copy of an unrestricted, active Virginia nursing license

Inpatient Student On-boarding Competencies

  1. Orientation Check List (Print and Return)

  5. Appropriateness of Medication Order for Instructors (Print and Return)

MEDITECH

  1. Video Review – A series of videos that review the Augusta Health EMR: MEDITECH. Videos will cover documentation in the patient care system (PCS), Medication administration in the eMAR, and IV spreadsheet documentation.
