Augusta Health offers spiritual care, designed to meet the religious and spiritual needs of patients, and patient's families while in the hospital. Our spiritual care team consist of Augusta Health team members, contract chaplains, students, and volunteer chaplains. Each of these spiritual care providers have been trained to be a part of the interdisciplinary team providing care to the whole person.
The mission of Spiritual Care is to provide clinical spiritual care to all people regardless of race, culture, age, sex, religion, sexual orientation, sexual identification or financial status in order to promote health and improve well-being to patients, patient families, and Augusta Health team members. The method of providing spiritual care is to honor and respect all belief systems and the individual conviction of others by seeking to facilitate what they determine is meaningful and purposeful for them.
How to contact a Chaplain
- Non-Emergency and Emergency Visits during the day, Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm
Call the Chaplain Office Phone (540) 332-4744, Extension 4744, or ask your Nurse to contact the Chaplain for you.
- Non-Emergency Visits after 4:00pm Monday through Friday
Call the Chaplain office and leave a message with your name and room number or have the Nurse to contact and leave a message requesting a Chaplain visit.
- Emergency Visits after 4:00pm, Monday through Friday
Other clinicians are available, please let your Nurse know and they will contact them for you.
- Weekend Chaplain Needs
Contact a nurse and they will contact the chaplain. A Chaplain is available for emergency spiritual care needs (needs that are immediate and cannot wait until the end of the weekend) at any time day or night from Saturday 8:00am until Monday 8:00am.
