Lymphedema is the chronic swelling of one or more limbs resulting from an impaired lymphatic system. There are multiple conditions that may contribute to the development of lymphedema.
Occupational therapy helps individuals learn to independently manage their swelling. Treatment includes a gentle manual technique called Manual Lymph Drainage, use of compression bandages and/or compression garments, skin care, and exercise.
The Occupational Therapists providing care in our Lymphedema Clinic are Certified Lymphedema Therapists (CLT).
