Educating and Caring for the Youngest Members of the Augusta Health Family
As a community hospital, Augusta Health proudly helps educate and train the next generation of
healthcare providers. But as a community employer, we help educate and care for the next generation
of all professions by providing an excellent Child Care Center for employees and their families. An
important part of that program is the Pre-K Class, the 'last stop' before venturing out to Kindergarten,
and an important part of the Pre-K Class is Ms. Vada. Vada Shaffer is the Lead Pre-K teacher, and she is
committed to her students' success. Mary Beth Landes, an employee whose son Caleb went from Ms.
Vada's Pre-K Class to an accelerated reading program in Kindergarten, says, "She has a unique ability to
meet each child where they are educationally and emotionally and help them continue to learn...It's a
good feeling, as a parent, knowing my child is being well-cared-for and well-prepared to start
Kindergarten, and Ms. Vada is a huge part of that in the Pre-K class."
