Digital Mammography

Digital mammography uses computers and specially-designed digital detectors to produce high-resolution images of the breast. We offer 2D and 3D mammograms. The main benefit of a 3D mammogram is that it creates a layered image that allows for more detail to be seen by the radiologist.

Digital mammograms offers a number of practical advantages and patient conveniences: 

• Powerful viewing options allow the radiologist to adjust brightness and contrast and zoom in on areas to detect small calcifications and masses 
• Saves time with reduced callbacks and retakes
• Images are easily stored and transferred electronically
• Better for women with dense breast tissue

A licensed mammographer performs the test and an on-site radiologist then examines the X-rays for abnormalities. Both you and your physician are sent reports following the procedure.
