Ultrasound Technologists—also known as Sonographers—play a vital role in patient care by using high-frequency sound waves to create diagnostic images of internal body structures. At Augusta Health, Sonographers work closely with Radiologists and the care team to deliver accurate results and compassionate, patient-centered care

What You’ll Do:

  • Perform and document ultrasound procedures with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Support efficient scheduling and resource use to best serve patients and physicians.
  • Ensure proper patient identification, safety, and comfort throughout exams.
  • Operate and maintain proficiency on all ultrasound equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification (required within 30 days of hire).
  • Registration with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in Ultrasound Physics and at least one specialty (e.g., Abdomen, OB/GYN, Pediatric, Breast). If not certified at hire, ARDMS registration must be completed within six months.
  • ARRT(S) in Sonography is also accepted.

Ultrasound Technologists often begin in general sonography and can specialize in areas such as vascular, cardiac, or breast ultrasound.
