X-ray Technologist (Radiologic Technologist)

What You’ll Do:

  • Operate X-ray equipment to capture images of designated body areas.
  • Review charts and orders to confirm the clinical indication for each exam.
  • Explain procedures and provide reassurance to patients.
  • Accurately process images for optimal quality.
  • Supervise and instruct radiography students.
  • Monitor accessory equipment and assist physicians with fluoroscopic procedures.
  • Meet the physical requirements of the role, including moving equipment and supporting patient needs.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Radiologic Technology.
  • AART registry in Radiologic Technology.
  • Current CPR Certification.
  • Virginia state license (preferred).
  • Completion of annual training, health, and safety requirements.

Career Path:

X-ray Technologists often expand their skills through cross-training in other radiology modalities, such as CT, MRI, or Mammography. Growth opportunities also include becoming a preceptor or clinical instructor, or pursuing advanced training in areas such as O-Arm imaging.
