Augusta Health Pain Management Clinic
At the Augusta Health Pain Management Clinic, we believe effective pain management is a team process. We look forward to working with you to improve your ability to return to the activities you have been missing, as well as provide a meaningful reduction in your pain.
We focus on diagnosing the source of your pain, so we can develop a treatment plan directed specifically at your pain generators. Though we understand that medications can play a role in managing your pain, our primary goal is to reduce or eliminate dependence on oral medications by focusing on other modalities to treat your pain.
Pain management is an on-going process that requires your active participation in a treatment plan to help you successfully return to work, home and community life.

Plan of Treatment
Patients are seen based on a referral from their primary care physician or specialist. The first visit at the pain clinic will include an initial evaluation, focused pain history questionnaire, interpretation of tests and x-rays, and a physical examination. The practitioner will then discuss the recommended plan of treatment.
Your new Plan of Treatment might include:
- Injections
- Nerve Blocks
- Physical Therapy
- TENS
- Medication Management
- Spinal cord stimulator
- Acupuncture
- Psychotherapy and/or access to support groups
Your pain management team will work together with you and your primary care physician or specialist to determine the source of your pain and how to best meet your pain management and medical needs.
Taking Charge
You and the professional team at the Augusta Health Pain Management Clinic will agree on your personalized Plan of Care. This plan will be tailored to helping you understand and manage your pain. Regular office visits and repeat procedures are often necessary to provide continuing management of your pain and continuity of care.
COOLIEF® Cooled Radiofrequency Procedure
COOLIEF® Cooled Radiofrequency is a non-surgical, non-narcotic procedure. It is a minimally invasive, outpatient procedure that can safely treat chronic pain. COOLIEF circulates water through the device while heating nervous tissue to create a treatment area that is larger than conventional RF treatments. This combination targets the pain-causing nerves without excessive heating.
