Gifts & Bequests

For decades, residents of Staunton, Augusta County, Waynesboro and the surrounding
area has turned to Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah for end-of-life care. Grateful family members, individuals, local businesses and organizations have generously provided ongoing philanthropic support for critical programs that directly benefit hospice patients and their families.

In-Kind Donations

Hospice is incredibly grateful for the generosity of those in the community with special
talents. If you sew or quilt, some things we use on a regular basis are:

  • Adult bibs
  • Rice bags
  • Quilts
  • Lap Blankets
  • Patriotic Quilts

There is no size requirement for any of the items listed above. Patterns and instructions
for making adult bibs and rice bags are available from many sources on-line. Donations
can be dropped off at the hospice office and we ask that you include your contact
information and value of your donation so that proper acknowledgement can be given.

Ways to Support Hospice Monetarily

Memorial Gifts – Families often want to honor the memory of their loved one and request gifts to support Hospice of the Shenandoah in lieu of flowers. These gifts honor the loved one’s life while making a difference in the lives of future patients and families. The funeral home can help you make your request known. The Augusta Health Foundation will notify the family of the gift made in memory of their loved one, if the name and address of the family is provided.
Brick Pavers at the Shenandoah House – The Shenandoah House is surrounded by beautiful flower gardens. In the back wooded area, there is a serene location where families can visit for a time of reflection. Brick pavers can be purchased in honor or memory of that special someone to be placed in this meaningful area.
Tribute Gifts – This gift is in honor or support of a particular individual.
Support Special Programs/Funds – You may choose to designate a specific hospice fund
when you make your donation.

  • Hospice General Fund – this fund provides for equipment and programmatic updates to support patients and their families
  • Hospice Veteran’s Fund – this fund provides special recognition and support for our Veteran patients through the “We Honor Veterans” program
