FISHERSVILLE, VIRGINIA — Augusta Health has been named to Becker’s Hospital Review 2026 list of “100 Great Community Hospitals,” a national recognition honoring hospitals that deliver accessible, affordable, high-quality care while serving as trusted healthcare anchors within their communities.
The recognition highlights Augusta Health’s continued commitment to advancing access to care, patient safety, innovation, and community-centered care throughout the Shenandoah Valley.
Becker’s Healthcare noted Augusta Health’s leadership in expanding access to care through initiatives such as its neighborhood clinics program, which addresses geographic and socioeconomic barriers to healthcare. Since its launch in 2022, the initiative has grown to over 25 clinic sites, conducting 26 clinics each month. Over the past year, these clinics provided more than 2,700 primary care visits to 1,289 unique patients.
In 2025, Augusta Health secured $600,000 in philanthropic support to fund a new mobile medical unit designed to further improve healthcare access for unhoused residents and individuals without reliable transportation. “Being recognized among the nation’s great community hospitals reflects the dedication and compassion of every member of the Augusta Health team,” said Mary N. Mannix, FACHE, President and Chief Executive Officer of Augusta Health. “As an independent community health system, we remain deeply committed to improving the health and well-being of all communities we serve by ensuring access to exceptional care close to home.”
In addition to the hospital’s national recognition, Becker’s Healthcare also honored two Augusta Health leaders in its 2026 executive recognition lists.
Mary N. Mannix, FACHE, President and Chief Executive Officer, was named to Becker’s “Rural Hospital and Health System Presidents and CEOs to Know” list, which recognizes leaders expanding healthcare services, investing in their communities, and strengthening rural healthcare delivery.
Leigh Williams, Vice President and Chief Information Officer, was named to Becker’s “CIOs to Know” list for her leadership in advancing Augusta Health’s technology strategy, cybersecurity, clinical integration, and digital transformation initiatives.
“These recognitions reflect the strength of Augusta Health’s mission-driven culture and ongoing investment in innovative, community-focused healthcare,” said Laurel L. Landes, Chair, Augusta Health Board of Directors. “We are honored to be recognized nationally for both the quality of care and the leadership guiding Augusta Health into the future.”
