Childbirth & Prenatal Classes

- We recommend beginning classes during your seventh month of pregnancy.
- Please try to register by your fifth month.
- Classes begin promptly at 7 pm and last until 9 pm.
- You will receive a confirmation email after registration, approximately 2 weeks prior to your class.
- Classes are held at Augusta Community Care, at the Augusta Health Fishersville campus.
- No classes are held in December.

Classes
Childbirth Preparation Series – $100 per couple
Six classes held every other month on four consecutive Mondays, as well as Breastfeeding (Thursday), Baby Basics and CPR (following Thursday). During the final trimester of pregnancy, this is an ideal way for expectant mothers and their partners to prepare for the “Big Event.” Classes cover signs, symptoms and stages of labor, body conditioning exercises, breathing and relaxation techniques, vaginal and cesarean births and other medical options, helpful hints for the birth coach, what to expect during recovery, and a tour of the Birthing Suite.
Individual Childbirth Preparation Classes

Childbirth Refresher – $50 per couple
Four classes held monthly on four consecutive Mondays, unless otherwise scheduled. For expectant, repeat parents who want a review in preparing for the new family member.
Baby Basics & Infant CPR – $20 per couple
One class held monthly on a Thursday unless otherwise noted due to holidays. Get hands-on practice to meet your newborn’s basic needs, including feeding, diapering, bathing, safety and parenting tips. Learn and practice infant CPR and how to help a choking baby.
Breastfeeding – $20 per couple
One class held monthly on the 1st Thursday of a full week. Breastfeeding has many benefits for mother and baby. Mothers and their partners will learn how it works and how to avoid common difficulties.
