Through gifts to Augusta Health Foundation, donors make a difference in the lives of patients and our communities every day.

Every dollar donated goes directly to the initiatives YOU choose, thanks to Augusta Health who pays all administrative expenses of the Foundation.

There are many areas to support within Augusta Health but each year, a few are chosen to highlight. To learn more our this year’s highlighted programs and services, please review our Philanthropic Priorities brochure.

The Foundation manages support for over 30 patient programs and community health care. We’ve featured several below and you can review the full Patient Program Funds List here.

Augusta Health Patient Care Fund

This unrestricted fund provides annual support for new and expanded patient services. Through an internal grants process, the Augusta Health Foundation Board of Directors seeks projects from clinical leadership that have a positive impact on the quality of care and the patient experience, or reduces the cost of care to our patients. Each year more than $50,000 from the Patient Care Fund is used to support innovative programs, state-of-the-art equipment and technology, and advanced training for caregivers and staff.

Cancer and Hematology Care

Each year, nearly 1,000 members of our community receive treatment at Augusta Health Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders. Gifts to support the Cancer and Hematology Programs provide ongoing support for patient education materials, cutting-edge technology and equipment, along with wigs and a variety of head coverings for patients. In addition, the Cancer Services Bridge Fund and the Hematology Bridge Fund provide transportation and medication assistance to patients in need.

Hospice of the Shenandoah

For decades, residents of Staunton, Augusta County, Waynesboro and the surrounding area has turned to Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah for end-of-life care. Grateful family members, individuals, local businesses and organizations have generously provided ongoing philanthropic support for critical programs that directly benefit hospice patients and their families. These funds provide care to veterans through the Hospice Veterans Fund, enhancements to the Shenandoah House, Augusta Health’s Hospice House, and for the daily needs of hospice patients through the Hospice Fund.

Nursing Excellence

Nursing excellence is paramount to an excellent patient and visitor experience at Augusta Health. Nurses enhance their skills, learn a new procedure or process, and expand their professional development through gifts to support the W.C. Smith Fund for Nursing Professional Development or the Nursing Excellence Fund.
