Why did you choose your specialty area?
I spent much of my career split between clinic and hospital medicine. Over time I came to enjoy the relationships that are built through seeing patients improve over the days of hospitalization. I like to take the time to inform patients and families about their condition and helping them to make sense of complicated medical problems. There is nothing better than seeing someone come in to the hospital and watching them walk out the door to go home. I feel privileged to be part of that experience.

How do you spend your spare time?
My family and I enjoy being active in the outdoors; we love biking, hiking, and camping together. We also spend many summer evenings at the late model racing track. When flying solo, I like to spend my free time working on classic cars and various home improvement projects.
